YS-11 Project

In December 2014, aero lab won the public competitive bidding for the last YS-11 (Aircraft No. JA8709) owned by the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for 2,230,200 yen.

The goal of this project was to perform maintenance on the aircraft and make it fly again.
Considering compliance with Japan's aviation regulations, the aircraft registration was changed from Japanese nationality "JA8709" to U.S. nationality "N462AL", and in March 2015, the engine was successfully started,
and new painting and maintenance were completed.

On May 24, 2015, we obtained flight approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and took off from Tokyo International Airport on May 27.
After stopping at Takamatsu Airport, it is now stored at the Japan Aviation Academy adjacent to Noto Airport.
